About

I am a Physician Assistant with 10 years of experience in Hematology and Medical Oncology. Over the course of my career, I have learned that I am not only treating a disease or chemotherapy side effects; I am managing and caring for all aspects of a cancer patient's being. In my practice, I strive to create a safe space for my patients so that they will feel accompanied on their cancer journey.

A cancer journey can be complicated and overwhelming. The constraints of the medical model are real and the physician cannot always tend to the spirit of the patient. In the Physician Assistant role, I often have the unique opportunity to call forth the patient's story while tending to their physical ailments. For my patients, I am a both a fixer and a healer.

Over the years, I have accumulated a wealth of knowledge that I believe can benefit a wider audience.  I have also learned that sharing my knowledge and experience makes me a better practitioner and healer.  Out of my desire to share information came Caring for Cancer. On this website, I will cover aspects of the cancer journey that are not often discussed elsewhere. My hope is that you are informed, inspired and comforted. Thank you for joining me in Caring for Cancer.

Thank you to my patients, friends, colleagues and mentors who have inspired me to bring Caring For Cancer to life, many of whom have contributed to the content on this site. Thank you to my editors! My husband deserves thanks and recognition beyond that which words will do justice.  Caring For Cancer is dedicated to and in memory of Dr. Hanna Jean Khoury.
